The Diggers’ Store:
Accommodation/  Art Gallery/  Events

The Diggers’ Store is an iconic heritage building in Castlemaine, established in 1857.  Once selling mining supplies to the local diggers, it has an historical significance for the region.

Alex grew up at The Diggers Store and he and Tina took over management of the property in 2013.  In the store today visitors will find a multiple use space, with a gallery/project space, a selection of independent vinyl records, art works, and espresso.

Behind the main house and store, sits a carefully converted 1850s stable, that the pair run as bed & breakfast accommodation. And adjoining the old stable is a large stone building containing a 100% analogue recording studioSound Recordings, operated by Alex.

They live in the big house with their daughter Odetta and cat Woody, and a wee brood of chooks.
